The Tsomoriri to Kibber trek is a challenging trek, starting near Tsomoriri Lake and ending at Kibber in the Spiti valley, Himachal Pradesh.
Route 11 days/10 nights
Day 1 – 7 hrs. drive to Korzok, near Tsomoriri Lake. Overnight at camp.
Day 2 – Korzok to Kyangdam (4595m.)
5 hrs. trek to the other side of the lake, walking along the lake. Good chances of sighting of Kyang (wild ass) and some migratory birds. Overnight at camp.
Day 3 – Kyangdam to Skitpodangsa (4563m.) or Nurboo Sumdo
4-5 hrs. moderate trek with river crossing. In early June and August the water can rise in the rivers at day time due to melting of snow higher up.
Day 4 – Skitpodangsa or Nurbo Sumdo to Getpabuzak (4600m.)
5-6 hrs. trek with river crossing just after the camp. Overnight at camp.
Day 5 – Getpabuzak to Tarangyokma (4731m.)
4-5 hrs. trek with moderate climbs. Overnight at camp.
Day 6 – Tarangyokma to Parang La base (5089m.)
4-5 hrs. trek with a climb at the end of the day. Overnight at camp.
Day 7 – Kharsagongma to Takkarzong (4850m.) via Parang La (5588m.)
6 hrs. trek with a climb to the top of the pass. Today you will cross a glacier. Overnight at camp.
Day 8 – Takkarzong to Thangltak (4500m.)
4-5 hrs. trek with a steep climb at the end of the day’s trek. Overnight at camp.
Day 9 – Thangltak to Kibber
3 hrs. trek to Kibber. Overnight in camp/hotel.
Day 10 – Kibber to Sarchu
7-8 hrs. drive to Sarchu. Overnight in camp.
Day 11 – Sarchu to Leh
8-9 hrs. drive to Leh.
