The Markha Valley trek is a moderate trek. It is one of the most famous treks in Ladakh because in 7 days you can view a scenery changing every day. You will cross two 5000m+ passes, beautiful villages, the famous Markha valley, high summer grazing pasture and close views of snow covered mountain peaks.
Route 8 DAYS / 7 NIGHTS
Day 1 – Leh/Spituk/Zingchen 5 hrs.
45 min. drive to Spituk, around 7 kms. from Leh town. 4-5 hrs. gradual trek to Zinchen. Overnight in camp
Day 2 – Zingchen to Ganda La Base (4200m.)
4-5 hrs. gradual trek with a gradual climb for the last hour. Overnight in camp.
Day 3 – Ganda La Base to Sku via Ganda La (4847m)
6-7 hrs. trek with 2 hrs. climb to the top of Ganda La. Overnight in camp.
Day 4 – Sku to Markha
7-8 hrs. moderate trek through the Markha Valley along the Markha river. Overnight in camp.
Day 5 – Markha to Thachungtse
5-6 hrs. gradual trek. Overnight in camp.
Day 6 – Thachungtse to Nimaling
4-5 hrs. trek with 2hrs. climb with the view of KangYatse (6400m.) peak. Overnight in camp.
Day 7 – Nimaling to Chukurmo via Kongmaru La (4948m.)
6-7 hrs trek with 2 hrs. climb to the top of the Kongmaru La pass. Overnight in camp.
Day 8 – ChuKurmo to Leh via Shang Sumdo
2 hrs. trek to Shang Sumdo, 4 hrs. drive to Leh.
